As reported by Los Angeles Times, an Orange County Court Officer is under investigation for having allegedly cancelled or amended the DUI Drink Driving convictions of thousands of defendants.

The Court Officer is alleged to have recorded fake plea deals and forged the records of as many as 1000 court files ‘give or take a hundred’, as stated by the man’s lawyer.

The fraud dates back as far as 2010, and affects defendants from all over the United States.

The misconduct was detected when another Court Officer discovered anomalies in an incomplete file.

The Court Officer in question left the employ of Orange County several months ago.

The man awaits charge and sentence.
